Nippon Aluminum Alkyls, Ltd. (NAA) was established in 1968 to produce and sell aluminium alkyls. In 1968, NAA completed construction of a plant on a part of the site of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (MCI) in Osaka which was later acquired by NAA and began operation in 1970. Since then, NAA has contributed to the development of the petrochemical industry by providing customers worldwide with high-quality aluminium alkyls.
Albemarle Corporation (now its wholly-owned subsidiary Ketjen Corporation), the world's leading supplier of organometallics and other specialty chemicals, acquired a 50% share in NAA in March 1997, and 50% share continues to be held by MCI.
