In years past, Japanese Fire Service Law restricted the capacity of aluminium alkyls transportation tanks in Japan to a maximum of 1,900 liters.
On May 1, 2001, the fire service law was revised and the aforementioned limitation lifted. Since then, the 1,900-liter limit no longer applies to tanks approved by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code.
Pursuant to this revision, ISO tanks (22m3) and Jumbo tanks (7.5m3) used for international transportation can also be used for transportation of aluminium alkyls in Japan.
As a result of these changes and in conjunction with Albemarle Corporation, one of our parent companies and the world's largest maker and marketer of merchant aluminium alkyls, we have constructed and started operation of a new loading/unloading facility for aluminium alkyls in ISO and Jumbo tanks.
